THE Principal of Kingsbury Green Academy in Calne, has announced he will be leaving for pastures new at the end of this school year.

Jason Tudor has been Principal at Kingsbury Green Academy for nine years and during his tenure has seen the school go through some major changes.

When he joined in 2015 the school was still named The John Bentley School. In 2018 the school suffered a blow when it was rated as 'Requiring Improvment' by Ofsted inspectors.

In April the following year, the school joined the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust, now known as Ascend Learning Trust,  and the school underwent a complete overhaul with a new name, and uniform.

Kingsbury Green Academy outlined five values which lie at its core: building confidence, courage, conscientiousness, consideration and creativity which are indicated on signposts on the campus.

At the time Jason Tudor said joining the trust allowed the school to develop through economies of scale, collaboration with teaching resources, staff and curriculum design. He commented: "We were the number one most improved school in Wiltshire in 2018, and it was not a blip as we shall continue to improve."

The hard work paid off when a subsequent Ofsted inspection in 2022 rated the school as Good in all assessment categories.

Jason Tudor will be taking up the post of Director of Secondary Education at Excalibur Academies Trust when he leaves KGA at the end of the summer term. The Trust consists of 20 schools along the M4 corridor between Bristol and Reading.

He told us: "Although I am sad to be leaving, I feel it is time for a new challenge after 9 enjoyable years as Principal.

"Those 9 years have been the most professionally satisfying of my career and I will be eternally grateful to the Calne community for making me so welcome.

"I also feel like I can leave in the knowledge that KGA is in a very strong position moving forward and hope to be leaving in a year of record breaking GCSE and A level results."
