The Met Office has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms later today, 1st May.

The warnings cover the entire southern half of the UK.

Heavy rain is expected with a chance of thunderstorms between 8pm tonight and 8am tomorrow morning. 

There will be a risk of sudden flooding and power blackouts. Flooding and lightning strikes could potentially cause travel disruption on the roads including delays and cancellations ot train and bus services. 

Forecasters have said 2 to 4cm of rain is expected to fall with 5cm possible in some places, adding "much of this rain may fall over a two or three hour period".

Wiltshire Stormchaser - Adam Simpkins said: "It's looking increasing likely Wiltshire will see our first decent chance of thunderstorms of the year. Storm system will move up from the south and push northwest. Threats - Heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning"
