Police say they have now made six arrests, including an 18-year-old woman from Calne,  in connection with a disorder that happened in Borough Parade in Chippenham at the beginning of the month.

A CCTV appeal was issued by the force following the incident in the shopping centre on September 2nd at about 3am - the assault left a woman in her 30's and a man in his 40's with injuries.

Since the incident, a 19-year-old man and an 18 year old man have been arrested on suspicion of ABH in relation to the assault on the man and both have been released on conditional bail.

Yesterday, police arrested two 18-year-old women from Chippenham, a third 18-year-old woman from Calne and a fourth woman, also 18, from Trowbridge.

All four women were arrested on suspicion of affray.

They were taken to Gablecross custody for questioning and have since been released, also on conditional bail.

PC Jess Swanborough said: “We have been conducting extensive enquiries since these incidents were reported to us and would like to thank the public for the information that has been provided on the back of our initial appeal.

“I’m pleased we’ve been able to make further arrests and our enquiries are continuing. Violence of any kind will not be tolerated and we are committed to keeping our town centres a safe place for people to live, work and socialise.”
