THE public toilets at The Pippin in Calne have been the target of pointless vandalism on mulitple occasions, resulting in costly repair bills for Calne Town Council - but a donation by a generous local business owner will wipe out some of the problem.
CWA Cleaning provides domestic and commercial cleaning services and is contracted by Calne Town Council to keep the loos clean and tidy.
But the continuous acts of vandalism has spurred Chris Wilson-Ash, owner of CWA, to take proactive action against further incidents.
New anti-vandal, anti-theft toilet roll dispensers capable of holding jumbo toilet rolls -reducing running costs of replacements, have been purchased and installed at the site by CWA Cleaning.
Chris told us: "The toilets at The Pippin will never be a palace, they are public toilets, but provide a much needed facility for the town.
"The toilets have been vandalised quite badly several times, and it's unfair on the council that they have to foot the bill each time damage is done.
"This year, we have helped the council spruce the facility up with the painting of the ceilings and doors, deep cleaning and now by installing the vandal proof dispensers. This support has been provided with the hope that it will make the facility more inviting and save the town council some money in consumables and repairs moving forward, thus allowing them to focus spending in other areas."
