FAMILIES flocked to the town centre yesterday for the annual Christmas Festival of Lights.

Throughout the day there was plenty to see and do with the Calne Springs Market and community stalls lining the streets alongside a varied choice of food stalls - no trip to the festival is complete for us without a fresh donut.

Two jolly squirrels scurried amongst the crowds, dancing with the children and a Snow Queen delighted younger onlookers as she moved around the town in her own illuminated snow globe.

At 4.30pm, schools and local community groups set off from Bremhill View with the lantern parade led by Calne Town Mayor, Robert MacNaughton and Calne Town Crier Mark Wylie.

Crowds were entertained at the main stage in The Strand by Chippenham Hospital Radio and the Harmonic Choir. Following a countdown the lights were officially switched on for 2023.
