Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council are appealing for information to help find three people who are wanted after failing to attend court hearings relating to alleged fly-tipping offences.

One of those being sought is James Smith, 58, of Calne, who failed to attend a fly-tipping hearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 31st March 2026.

Also wanted are Christopher Parsons, 43, of Swindon, who failed to attend a hearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 29th May 2026, and Matthew Andrews, 53, of Westbury, who failed to attend a hearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 24th April 2025.

Wiltshire Police is supporting Wiltshire Council in tackling the unlawful disposal of controlled waste without the required environmental permits.

Inspector Andy Lemon, Wiltshire Police’s Rural Crime Lead, said: “Fly-tipping causes significant harm to our environment and is an issue we are determined to tackle across Wiltshire.

“It not only blights our countryside but also places a considerable financial burden on already stretched local authorities.

“It only takes a single incident to cause serious environmental damage, so one case is one too many.

“We take fly-tipping extremely seriously. By identifying and holding offenders to account, we can make a real difference to our communities and local environment.

“I would urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of these individuals to contact us.”

David Bullock, Director of Assets, Highways and Transport at Wiltshire Council, said: “We are determined to tackle fly-tipping across Wiltshire and, working closely with our partners at Wiltshire Police, we will pursue enforcement action wherever there is sufficient evidence to do so.

“These people failed to attend court hearings relating to fly-tipping offences and warrants have since been issued for their arrest. We are asking anyone who may know of their whereabouts to come forward and help us locate them.

“Fly-tipping damages our countryside and blights our communities. We will continue to take robust action against those suspected of committing environmental offences.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of James Smith, Christopher Parsons or Matthew Andrews is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
