Plans for new permanent public toilets at Calne Recreation Ground have been submitted to Wiltshire Council, following Calne Town Council's decision earlier this year to allocate £110,000 towards the project.

Planning Permission Application submitted for new toilets at The RecThe proposed facilities would be built on a grass area next to Calne Recreation Club, off Anchor Road, and would include an accessible toilet and baby-changing facilities.

The application also includes a 5m by 3m area of hardstanding for a catering trailer.

The proposed opening hours are 7am to 6pm during the summer and 8am to 4pm in winter, seven days a week.

There are currently no permanent publicly accessible toilets at the Recreation Ground, despite increased use of the site following the opening of the Ninja Warrior-style obstacle trail.

Calne News reported in May that £110,000 had been allocated from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding towards the new facilities. The project subsequently reached the tender stage, with the council inviting companies to bid for the work.

The application (PL/2026/06815) was validated on 29th October, with a decision expected by 24th December 2026.
