A young child who was found alone on a road in Calne has been safely reunited with his father after a member of the public alerted police.

According to Calne's Neighbourhood Policing Team, the boy was discovered on Sandpit Road during the past week.

Officers attended the area and carried out door-to-door enquiries around the nearby estate in an effort to locate his family. After knocking on several doors, they found the child's father and safely reunited the pair.

Police thanked the member of the public who found the youngster and contacted them.

The incident was highlighted in the neighbourhood team's latest weekly update, which outlined some of the calls officers have responded to across Calne and the surrounding villages.

The update also revealed that officers arrested a man following a reported disorder in Cherhill, helped search for a missing man who was later found safe near Stanley, and continue to investigate a number of reports relating to anti-social behaviour and community concerns.

Police say they have seen a continued reduction in reports of anti-social behaviour across the area, particularly in parks and open spaces, but high-visibility patrols will continue in identified hotspot locations to help deter offending and provide reassurance to residents.
