Calne Pride organisers have announced that this year’s main event at the Recreation Ground has been cancelled due to ongoing volunteer shortages and financial difficulties.

The committee confirmed the decision in a statement this week, describing it as a “difficult decision” after two consecutive Pride events were held at the Rec in 2024 and 2025.

Despite the cancellation of the main event, the annual Pride march through the town will still go ahead as planned on Saturday 6th June.

Participants are being asked to gather from 1pm at Pocket Park in The Pippin, between Fay’s Bistro and the lower Sainsbury’s car park, ahead of a 1.30pm start.

Organisers are encouraging people to attend wearing bright colours, bring flags and “Pride spirit”.

Calne Pride also issued an appeal for new volunteers and committee members to help support future events.

In a statement, the committee said: “Calne Pride relies entirely on the dedication and support of our wonderful volunteers, who generously give their time to help make Pride happen.”
