Calne Town Council has announced the recipients of its latest round of community grants, totaling £15,696 plus in-kind support, awarded during the Town and Community Matters Committee and Full Council meetings held on Monday, 14th April 2025.
The grants aim to support vital local initiatives and foster a vibrant community within Calne.
Leading the way is a substantial £5,000 annual grant awarded to the Calne Foodbank for the 2025/2026 period. This funding will be instrumental in enabling the Foodbank to continue its crucial work supporting local individuals and families facing hardship.
The Council also pledged up to £2,500 to "Kindness in Calne," a new project designed to strengthen community connections, improve personal wellbeing, and combat loneliness through 'acts of kindness' and engaging crafting classes.
Local children will also benefit with an £891 grant to support the Rotary District's Children’s Fun Day on 11th June 2025, providing a memorable coach trip for 38 children from seven Calne schools who have learning challenges or have experienced recent trauma.
In-kind support, valued at £510, has been approved for Calne Springs Forward, providing the free use of the Town Hall for their Business Fair on Saturday, 30th August.
Finally, a significant £6,795 grant has been awarded to Calne Pride to support their event on Saturday, 7th June, as well as their ongoing educational and information-sharing activities throughout 2025 and 2026. The funding will contribute to key elements such as the stage and paid performances.
"We are incredibly proud to support these dedicated groups and the positive impact they have on our community," stated a spokesperson for Calne Town Council.
"These grants demonstrate our commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive Calne for everyone."
