Calne Town Council’s annual fireworks and bonfire night brought families to Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility on Friday evening, with a funfair, food stalls, walkabout entertainment and a fireworks display.
Jennings Fun Fair provided a colourful welcome for visitors, with its illuminated rides visible from the bypass as people arrived at the site, lighting up the entrance to the event.

There was plenty to choose from when it came to food and drink, with stalls from Calne Lions, FHC Churros, A1 Iced, Scouting for Coffee, Pasty Cove and Lade’s Bakes. Calne News tried the vegan rolls from Pasty Cove, which went down very well!
Starlight was also on site with light-up toys, while younger visitors could head inside the community hall, where a craft area offered a chance to take a break from the outdoor activities. Face painting and glitter tattoos were provided by Crazy Cheeks.

There was entertainment around the site throughout the evening, with two walkabout acts adding something a little different. The Light Gliders moved through the crowds with their colourful, changing lights, spinning and weaving between visitors. Calvos caught the attention of visitors with a striking illuminated costume and crystal ball juggling, moving through the crowds during the evening.

Music throughout the evening was provided by Aaron of After Dark Entertainment.
Shortly before 7pm, Calne Town Mayor Councillor Tim Havenith welcomed visitors and thanked the town council staff and volunteers who had helped organise the evening.

He said: “A massive thank you to our town staff and all the amazing volunteers who have given up their time to keep everyone safe and make tonight a success.”
He also thanked the event's sponsors and local business partners, giving particular mention to headline sponsor Deceuninck for its “vital support”, and Altex for providing car parking space.
As he brought his speech to a close, he told the crowd: “Now it’s time to turn your eyes to the skies, and let’s get this show started!”

The bonfire was stacked with wood supplied by Valley View Fencing, with the fireworks display provided by Anytime Fireworks.
As the evening drew to a close, the fireworks lit up the sky above Beversbrook. The display was accompanied by a soundtrack closely synchronised with the bursts of colour, providing an impressive finish to the night.
Families were given a helping hand with travel to the facility thanks to a shuttle service provided by Calne Community Transport, who worked with the town council to help provide travel between the town and Beversbrook.

The event was made possible with support from headline sponsor Deceuninck, alongside the many local businesses, organisations, performers, staff and volunteers who contributed to the evening.
