It has been confirmed today that the Post Office inside Morrisons Daily in Calne will close permanently in August following the supermarket's decision to shut the store.
Post Office Limited has said the branch at Morrisons, in Phelps Parade, will close on Saturday 8th August 2026, the same day the Morrisons Daily store closes.
In a letter confirming the closure, the Post Office said the branch will shut because Morrisons has decided to close the store.
The Post Office says it is now looking at ways to keep a Post Office service in Calne. This could include finding a new operator to run a branch elsewhere, although no plans have yet been confirmed.
It said any future branch would need to be suitable for both the operator and the Post Office, with the type of service depending on local demand.
Until then, customers are being directed to the James Avenue Post Office at Spar, around a mile away, and Quemerford Post Office, around 1.2 miles from the Morrisons branch.
The Post Office apologised for the inconvenience and said it will provide another update once it has more information about future plans for a branch in Calne.
