Fire crews are dealing with a fire at a recycling site in Compton Bassett, with a large smoke plume visible across the area.

Calne Fire Station have issued an alert this afternoon advising local residents to keep doors and windows closed until the smoke has cleared.

In a statement, the fire service said: "We are dealing with a fire at a recycling site in Compton Bassett which is creating a smoke plume. Affected local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed until the smoke has cleared."

The incident is ongoing and the extent of the fire has not yet been confirmed.

Residents in Compton Bassett, Calne and surrounding villages may be able to see or smell smoke from the fire.
