Calne Town Council is encouraging residents, schools, businesses and community groups to get involved in this year’s Calne Summer Carnival procession.
The procession, which takes place on Saturday 27th June, will follow the theme ‘Calneval of Colour’, with people taking part encouraged to choose a colour or shade and make the streets as bright as possible.
Walking groups, fancy dress entries and decorated floats are all welcome, with entry free of charge. Floats can be provided free on request through the application process.
Businesses are also being encouraged to take part, with the carnival offering one of the biggest shop windows of the year to showcase themselves to the local community.
A number of cash prizes will be up for grabs on the day, including awards for best float, best walking entry, best use of colour and most community spirit.
Erin Weaver said: “The carnival is all about community spirit, creativity, and having fun together. Every year we love seeing the effort people put into their entries, whether it’s a fully decorated float, or a walking group in fancy dress.
“We’d encourage anyone who’s been thinking about joining in to give it a go this year.”
Anyone wanting to enter can sign up through Calne Town Council.
