HAWKFIELD HOMES have said that the collapse of their parent company - Land Promotions Ltd into administration, will not affect their plans for the future of the former Co-op site in Calne. The company that owns the site is very much still trading.

The site in Mill Street, Calne has been empty since April 2020 and has been an area for concern for vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

Hawkfield Homes Ltd acquired the site in December 2021 and in July 2022 they applied for planning permission to tear down the prominent disused building and replace it with 26 new dwellings and commercial space fronting onto Mill Street.

At a town council planning committee meeting last month, Calne town councillors voted unanimously to object to the scheme with concerns for parking issues the building would create becoming a 'burden on nearby residential areas'. Many residents were also opposed to the plans put forward by Hawkfield.

The consultation deadline for the proposal passed on October 10th and no new decision deadline had been set by Wiltshire Council after the original date of May 31st was missed due to the submission of revised documents.

However, on Friday it was announced that the parent company of Hawkfield Homes Ltd - Land Promotions Ltd has gone into administration. A spokesperson for the company told us: "I can confirm that Hawkfield Homes has not gone into Administration.

"Land Promotions Ltd ( parent company to Hawkfield Homes) is in Administration as of 5pm Friday 17th November 2023. Hawkfield Homes is not in administration. Therefore it is the validly appointed Administrator rather than directors or managers who will be running the Company and have the power to negotiate and conclude the sale and work in progress or otherwise with you."
