WITH just over 12 weeks to go to the Calne Summer 'Calneval', Calne Town Council are calling on all clubs, schools, teams, pubs, local businesses, street or group of friends to join in and make this a parade the town can be proud of.
The Calneval will take place on Saturday 28th June and is one of the biggest events the town council organises as hundreds line the streets to watch the procession pass through.
A council spokesperson said: "There is no set overall theme this year. We are returning to the CALNEVAL name - where it's a mishmash of free for all fun. Think bright, silly and a summer blast of old school vibes!"
There is plenty of time to get together and plan your entry and costumes, and play your part in making the parade a success whilst having a huge amount of fun.
"Calne Summer Carnival is back! And taking you back....back to the Old School! Get ready for a throwback celebration as the Calne Summer Carnival returns, bringing all the nostalgic vibes you love but with a modern twist!"
Taking part in the carnival has many benefits - for businesses, clubs and groups, it is a fantastic opportunity to get your name out there. For schools, it is a lovely event for classes to plan together and look forward to, and for anyone else thinking about joining in - it is a chance to show off, dress up and support our community, making it into a procession to be proud of.
Want to go bigger ? The council can help provide a full-sized float for local groups. Floats are again being provided by T.W Skuse & Son Transport for 2025.
There are some terms and conditions – you need to register, and your decorated item must be able to be safely wheeled along the carnival route from Bremhill View to Marden House.
