Following the installation of five public bleed control kits across Calne, a series of free training sessions will take place in August to help residents learn potentially life-saving skills.
Calne Town Council has partnered with Bin the Blade to deliver the sessions at Colemans Farm Community Centre, where members of the public will be shown simple techniques to help control severe bleeding until emergency services arrive.
The training follows the rollout of five bleed control kits across the town, with the latest three installed in March as part of the council's ongoing commitment to improving public safety. The kits are located at The Recreation Ground, Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility, Calne Town Hall, Bremhill View Clubhouse and Phelps Parade, alongside the public defibrillators already located around Calne.
The sessions are for anyone who wants to be better prepared, the hour-long sessions are open to parents, sports coaches, volunteers, local business owners and members of the wider community. The aim is to give people the confidence to step in and help during the critical moments before paramedics arrive.
Training will take place on Thursday, 13th August, at Colemans Farm Community Centre, with two public sessions available - 4.30pm to 5.30pm – 20 places and 5.30pm to 6.30pm – 20 places.
A third session, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, has been arranged for members of The Rise Trust. Young people wishing to attend should speak to their youth worker to register.
