Calne’s latest ‘little library’  - the 4th so far, was officially opened at the Pocket Park on Sunday afternoon.

John Boaler, chair of the Pocket Park volunteers,  thanked Leanne Hames, the inspiration behind the little library project; and also Calne Lions for funding the library at the Pocket Park.

John added: “But the biggest thanks of all go to Denis Griffin, one of our volunteers, who has designed, made and installed this attractive, unique little library for the Pocket Park.

"It makes a wonderful addition to this community area and we feel sure it will be well used. It has a children’s bookshelf and 2 shelves for adult books.”

As guests moved towards the tea and cake the first children were seen opening the little library and selecting books.

The Men’s Shed are making 8 more little libraries, to a different design, to create a network around Calne. Wiltshire Council, through the Calne Area Board, is funding the network of little libraries which Wordfest are supporting.
