A man who has been causing concern in the Castlefields area has been arrested this morning following a disturbing post he shared online.

Wiltshire Police confirmed an arrest was made today (Friday 27th March) after officers were made aware of the social media post which had been circulating locally.

The post, shared yesterday, contained explicit and disturbing language and was widely circulated within the community, raising great concern among parents.

The development comes after earlier concerns raised recently about the man’s behaviour in the Castlefields Park area.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were made aware of a concerning social media post that is currently circulating, after it was brought to our attention by one of our schools. Today (27/03), an arrest has been made in connection with this matter.”

The arrest follows earlier action taken by police this week, when a Community Protection Warning was issued to the man following concerns about his behaviour in Castlefields Park.

Officers had previously spoken to him after reports from members of the public, including an incident at the start of March in which a student was left distressed after being approached.

Police said at the time that no criminal offences had been identified, but that they would continue to monitor the situation.

The man had previously been reported to police after residents described suspicious behaviour in the Castlefields area, prompting warnings within the community.

The latest post prompted several residents contacting Calne News to express alarm.

Police confirmed enquiries are ongoing.
