A man has been charged with multiple offences following a police pursuit through Calne in the early hours of Wednesday 25th February.

Alec Wells, 40, of North End, Calne, was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to provide details after the incident along the A4 between Chippenham and Calne.

The pursuit began after officers tried to stop a vehicle over concerns about its driving, which police said included speeding, using the wrong side of the road, and dangerous manoeuvres on roundabouts. The vehicle travelled through Derry Hill before rejoining the A4 and into Calne. Police attempted to stop it near the A3102 bypass, but the driver continued until the car eventually stopped in Lickhill Road.

Wells appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Thursday 26th February and pleaded guilty to all offences. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the same court on Friday 17th April.
