A yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office for later today and overnight (15/7).

The warning covers the majority of the UK from Midlands down.

It comes into force from 3pm today, Monday 15th to 9am tomorrow morning.

The warning says that periods of heavy rain will bring some disruption particularly to transport and infrastructure.

Forecasters say the heavy rains brings a risk of thunder, and are expected to develop later on Monday afternoon then move northwards through the evening and overnight. 15 to 20 mm rain may fall in less than an hour, with a few places seeing up to 40 mm in 2 hours but perhaps more widely within a longer period overnight. Where this occurs, there is the chance of some flooding and disruption.
