Police have stepped up patrols around The Pippin in Calne following a number of reports of antisocial behaviour in and around the Pocket Park.
Calne’s Neighbourhood Policing Team says it has increased patrols around The Pippin as the school holidays come to an end, following a number of reports of antisocial behaviour in and around the Pocket Park.
Officers are also investigating an incident involving a young girl riding an e-scooter along The Pippin and passing closely to pedestrians. CCTV footage is being reviewed and police say appropriate action will be considered once their enquiries are complete.
Privately owned e-scooters are subject to legal restrictions and can be seized if they are being used illegally on public roads or other public areas. Police are particularly encouraging parents and guardians to consider the legal position before purchasing e-scooters for children.
They are also continuing patrols around Castlefields Park and Yellow Park, near Abberd Brook, following recent reports of antisocial behaviour. They are working with partners and reviewing available CCTV, while also considering whether additional cameras could be useful in the two areas.
PC Wright also attended an Antisocial Behaviour Risk Assessment Conference with partner agencies to discuss an ongoing issue affecting a number of Calne residents.
The team recently met with the manager of Calne CCTV, with footage requested in connection with a number of incidents to help with ongoing enquiries and identify those responsible where possible.
Residents are being encouraged to report antisocial behaviour to police, with reports helping officers identify patterns and understand where problems are occurring.
Non-emergency incidents can be reported to Wiltshire Police on 101 or online, while 999 should be used in an emergency or when a crime is in progress.
