THERE was a heavy police presence in Oxford Road on Saturday night (18/11) which lead to the arrest of a drink driver following a RTC.

Police received reports of a two vehicle RTC just after 7.30pm on Saturday. One of the cars involved had also collided with a building.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a Ms Zoe Higginson,  attempted to leave the area, but she was stopped in North Street by a quick-thinking member of the public who detained her until the police arrived.

She subsequently failed a breath test and was arrested and taken to Swindon custody suite.

Ms Higginson of Braemor Road, Calne was charged with drink-driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic accident.  She will appear before Swindon Magistrate's on the 12th December at 10am.

Police say that no one sustained any serious injuries and there was no damage caused to the building.
