The annual Mayor Making ceremony took place at Calne Town Hall on yesterday evening, Monday 11th May, marking the end of Cllr Ian Thorn’s mayoral year.
The evening began with a procession led by the Town Crier, Mark Wylie, before Cllr Thorn reflected on his year in office.

Following the formal proceedings, councillors voted to appoint a new Town Mayor, with Cllr Tim Havenith taking over the role for the year ahead.
Cllr Havenith’s consort will be his wife, Lucy.
As part of the ceremony, the newly appointed Mayor left the chamber to be robed before returning to take up the position.

Cllr Havenith then proposed Cllr Declan Boore as Deputy Mayor, which was approved by councillors.
The ceremony also included the annual meeting of the Town Council, along with the traditional recognition of former town mayors.
Three former mayors - Robert MacNaughton, Jon Fisher and Ian Thorn - were presented with commemorative pins.
Delegates from Calne’s twin town of Eningen were also in attendance, taking part in a presentation and exchange of gifts.

The evening concluded with the formal close of the meeting, followed by refreshments and music - marking the start of the new mayoral year in Calne.
