FIRE crews from Calne, Chippenham and Devizes were called to the scene of a house fire at a home in Bryans Close Road in Calne last night, Sunday 9th February.

Six firefighters tackled the flames at the terraced house after the fire broke out at about 8,40pm. The homeowner managed to rescue three dogs from the blaze but sadly, a kitten and tortoise are believed to have perished.

A spokesperson for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: "Firefighters from Calne, Chippenham and Devizes were mobilised to a property fire in Bryans Close, Calne at 8:40pm yesterday. 

"On arrival crews found a fire on the ground floor of a terraced private dwelling and six firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets, one main jet and mechanical ventilation extinguish the fire.

"Two casualties were conveyed to hospital by ambulance and our stop was in at 10:45pm."
