Calne and surrounding areas are included in a yellow weather warning as thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and lightning could affect parts of Wiltshire on Wednesday.
The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Wednesday, 26th August, covering Wiltshire and a wide area of England and Wales.
The warning is in force from 3am until 10pm on Wednesday.
Forecasters say a band of heavy showers and thunderstorms is expected to move northwards during Wednesday morning.
A drier and brighter spell may follow, but there is then a chance of further showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon.
The Met Office says many places will miss the worst of the weather, but where thunderstorms do develop they could be intense.
Around 20-30mm of rain could fall in less than an hour, with some areas potentially receiving 40-50mm in two to three hours.
Large hail and frequent lightning are also possible, with the risk of surface water flooding in affected areas.
The warning means there is a small chance of flooding to homes and businesses, while lightning strikes or flooding could cause delays and cancellations to bus and train services.
Sudden flooding and spray could also make driving conditions difficult, with some roads potentially affected.
There is also a slight chance of power cuts and disruption to other services.
The Met Office has described the warning as having a very low likelihood but medium impact, meaning the most severe conditions are not expected everywhere covered by the warning.
Anyone caught outside during a thunderstorm is advised to seek safe, enclosed shelter and avoid sheltering under or near trees.
The Met Office also advises people to keep checking the latest forecast, as thunderstorm warnings can change quickly.
A separate yellow thunderstorm warning is currently also in place for Thursday, 27th August, running from 6am until 10pm and again covering Wiltshire but not currently stretching as far as Calne. The warning for Thursday is for thunderstorms and heavy rain which could lead to some disruption.
