Kingsbury Green Academy's Year 10 rounders team produced an outstanding performance at the Wiltshire School Games Tournament, competing against some of the strongest teams in the county to be crowned overall champions.

The girls began the day in a highly competitive group, opening with a 10-3 victory over Commonweal before following it up with an 11-1 win against Wellington.

They continued their excellent form with victories over Clarendon (10-8), Wyvern (5.5-4) and Corsham (6.5-5).

Their toughest test came against Royal Wootton Bassett Academy in the opening group match, where they were narrowly beaten by just one rounder.

The team responded superbly, showing resilience, determination and teamwork throughout the remainder of the group stage to finish top of the group on 15 points, level with Royal Wootton Bassett Academy.

That set up a repeat meeting in the final, where Kingsbury Green Academy adapted their tactics and produced their best performance of the tournament. Strong batting and fielding helped the girls secure an 8-4.5 victory to be crowned Wiltshire School Games champions.

The school praised the entire squad for displaying excellent sportsmanship, commitment and teamwork throughout the competition.

A special mention also went to Krissy, whose performances earned her the Player of the Tournament award.

Congratulations to the team on a fantastic achievement and for representing Kingsbury Green Academy so well.
