Marden Vale CofE Academy has received a positive report from Ofsted, with inspectors finding the school is meeting the expected standard across all areas of the inspection.

The Calne school was praised for its approach to supporting pupils, its curriculum and the relationships between staff and children.

Inspectors said pupils make positive progress from their starting points and found that safeguarding was effective.

The report also highlighted the work being done to support pupils with additional needs, as well as the school's pastoral support.

Inspectors said leaders had strengthened the school's strategic direction and were working with “determination and focus” to provide pupils with a good education.

They also found that pupils are proud of their school, enjoy learning and feel safe.

Headteacher Louise Scrivens said the report reflected the work of staff, pupils, families and governors.

“We are incredibly proud that inspectors recognised the caring, ambitious and inclusive culture we have worked so hard to build.

“Every child at Marden Vale deserves the very best opportunities in life, and we are determined to continue helping them grow in confidence, achieve success and believe in themselves.”

The inspection also looked at the school's personal development programme, including enrichment activities and educational visits.

Mark Lacey, Chief Executive Officer of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust, said: “This inspection outcome is richly deserved. Marden Vale is a wonderful school, driven by exceptional dedication from school leaders, staff, governors and families.”

He added that the school had “high expectations” and a commitment to helping every child flourish.
