A converted bus from a Bath charity brought pizza-making and confidence-building activities to pupils at St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in Calne.

The school welcomed I Can & I Am, a charity that works with schools to help children recognise their strengths, build confidence and develop resilience.

Pupils climbed aboard the charity’s converted bus, where they made their own pizzas in its fully equipped kitchen before taking part in a workshop exploring self-belief, feelings and mental wellbeing.

The informal setting gave children the opportunity to chat while preparing and eating their food, helping them explore these topics in a relaxed environment.

I Can & I Am works with primary, secondary and special educational needs schools, offering practical activities to help young people develop a positive mindset and a stronger sense of belonging. Its sessions are provided free to state schools.

The visit also supported St Edmund’s focus on helping pupils recognise their individual strengths and put the school’s values of kindness and respect into practice.

Antony Moore, headteacher at St Edmund’s, said: “We want our children to recognise their strengths and believe in themselves. This was a lovely way to explore those messages, and the children really enjoyed making their pizzas and talking together in such a relaxed setting. We’re grateful to I Can & I Am for bringing this experience to our school.”

Helen Taylor, chief executive of the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust, said: “Helping children develop confidence and resilience is an important part of their education. Experiences like this give pupils the chance to talk openly and consider how they approach challenges in life. It’s great to see our schools working with organisations such as I Can & I Am to support children’s personal development.”
