Professional touring theatre company This Is My Theatre will perform Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at Calne Pocket Park on Tuesday 28th July.
The production starts at 7pm, with gates opening from 6pm. People can bring a picnic before the show, while the cast will perform live music from around 6.15pm. Pocket Park volunteers will also be running their popular pop-up café.
Based on Lewis Carroll's classic story, the production follows Alice as she tumbles down the rabbit hole and meets some of literature's best-loved characters, including the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts. The company promises a family-friendly evening of humour, music and adventure.
Calne Pocket Park Chairman John Boaler said the performance had been arranged after people asked to see outdoor theatre in the town.
"We are hoping the production of Alice is a sell-out. It ought to be. The actors from This Is My Theatre are brilliant. I saw them perform Emma at Bowood last year."
Tickets cost £18, and John said he believes they represent good value for a professional theatre production.
"The Pocket Park is unable to subsidise ticket costs - but at £18 they are great value. If you go to the Theatre Royal in Bath you will typically pay between £38 and £58, to which you can add your travel and possibly parking costs. It's the same at the Bristol Hippodrome. A main course in many restaurants today is often at least £18."
Ticket sales have been limited to 100 so everyone should be able to see and hear the performance comfortably.
John added: "In case it is a cold, wet evening, the venue will switch to Calne Town Hall. I promise you - the show will go on."
