The Calne Eat:Festival celebrating local food and drink returns to Calne this Saturday (15 August), with more than 75 makers, growers and producers heading to the town centre.
The festival will feature everything from farmers' market favourites such as ale, cider and cheese to patisserie, fresh oysters, spirits, fresh meat and street food.
There will also be free entertainment and music, along with extra seating and level access throughout the festival. Dogs are welcome too, with extra water bowls available for four-legged visitors.
Bev Milner Simonds from eat:Festivals said the organisers have been focusing on producers from within 30 miles of Calne. She said: “We specialise in developing festivals that bring the community together, showcase local producers and give businesses the chance to welcome new people into their premises.
“We have been focusing on producers from within 30 miles of Calne and are looking forward to the 2nd year of this festival on Saturday. We are grateful to Calne Town Council for their support of this festival. We hope the festival will grow and develop and become an established part of the Calne calendar.”
The festival will feature more than 75 makers, growers and producers, with free entertainment, music and plenty of food and drink to enjoy.

A number of the traders are new to Calne this year, including Bacchus and Hops, Bristol Cider, Cotswold Orchard Herbs, Cream & Crumble, Cuppa & Co, Dart Oysters, Doraditas Gourmet, Glastonbury Cheese, Luke's Cider, Maud Heath Vineyard, Mei's Homemade, Palette and Pasture, Pindy's Samosas, RebelRox Kitchen, Royal Ox, Stencil Shed, The Dog House Micropub, The Garlic Farm, The Whisk Bakehouse, Vitality Raw Honey, Wessex Meadworks and You Know You Wood.
Calne Town Council has also arranged a programme of community stalls, activities and entertainment on The Wharf, giving visitors another reason to head into town on Saturday.
Community stalls will include Kindness in Calne, Catnip, Crimestoppers, Men’s Shed, Craftstree, Pride and Calne Town Council. Visitors will have the chance to find out more about the groups, pick up information and see how they can get involved.
There will also be a selection of outdoor games, while Clare’s Circus and Spring-a-Lings will be bringing entertainment to The Wharf.
For a bit of fun - and perhaps some friendly competition - visitors can also have a go at Splash the Mayor. For £2, you get three throws for the chance to soak both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. So if you've ever fancied getting your own back on a councillor, this could be your opportunity!
The Council is encouraging families to come into town, enjoy the food festival and extend their day on The Wharf, with community stalls, games, circus entertainment and the chance to splash the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
