From family activities and community events to markets, live music and outdoor attractions, there is plenty happening across Calne and nearby towns over the Bank Holiday weekend and into next week.

Here’s a look at some of the events taking place across the area.

Help re-chalk the Cherhill White Horse
The bi-annual re-chalking of the Cherhill White Horse will take place tomorrow Saturday 23rd May from 10am. Volunteers to help with this mammoth task are warmly invited to join in. Dress appropriately, take sunscreen, gardening gloves and refreshments.


Busy Bees Garden Trail at Avebury
Step into Avebury Manor Garden during the May half-term for a bee-themed adventure.

Water the flowers to keep their path blooming, piece together a honeycomb puzzle, find out interesting facts about bees and catch the honey as it drips into the pot.

This playful, interactive experience is suitable for all ages and celebrates the busy world of bees and the magic they bring to the manor garden.

Normal garden admission applies. Entry is free for National Trust members.

Dogs on short leads are welcome in Avebury Manor Garden.

Live Music at The Wheaty
Bringing the music to your Bank Holiday weekend, The Wheatsheaf on Curzon Street will be welcoming live bands on Saturday and Sunday. 


Calne Methodist Church 150th Anniversary Weekend
All are welcome to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Calne Methodist Church, with an Open Church event on Saturday with displays of church history, a photo montage and arts and crafts. On Sunday there will be a special service.

Bowood Afternoon Tea officially launches

Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort has officially launched its renewed Bowood Afternoon Tea experience following this week’s media event.

The experience brings together estate-grown ingredients, British-grown tea and handmade fine bone china, with afternoon tea now being served daily in the Shelburne Restaurant.

Calne Bowls Club Community Open Day
Open to anyone aged 10-100, Calne Bowls Club will be holding their second open day on Sunday 24th May from 10am.
