From live music in Calne Pocket Park and an evening of opera at St Mary's Church to the Heddington Steam Rally, Chippenham Carnival and family fun days, there's no shortage of events to enjoy in and around Calne this weekend.

Whether you're planning a day out with the family, looking to soak up some live entertainment or simply want to make the most of the weekend, here's our pick of what's happening across Saturday and Sunday.

Heddington & Stockley Steam Rally and Country Fair

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Heddington & Stockley Steam Rally and Country Fair returns this weekend with two days packed full of attractions. Alongside magnificent steam engines, vintage vehicles, tractors and motorcycles, visitors can enjoy championship lawnmower racing, tractor pulling, trade stalls and plenty of family entertainment. The rally takes place just outside Calne, next to The Ivy Inn in Heddington, on both Saturday and Sunday.

Calne Choral – An Evening at the Opera

If you fancy a more relaxed evening, Calne Choral is performing An Evening at the Opera at St Mary's Church on Saturday from 7.30pm. The concert features a selection of well-known opera choruses alongside favourite songs from the shows, offering something for both opera lovers and musical theatre fans. Tickets are £15 and are available in advance or on the door, subject to availability.

Charity Fun Day

Head to The New Inn at Winterbourne Monkton on Sunday for a Charity Fun Day raising money for Julia's House Children's Hospice, Wiltshire Mind and St Mary Magdalene Church. Running from midday until 8pm, the event includes live music throughout the day, a barbecue, bouncy castle and garden games, with free entry for everyone. It's a chance to enjoy a family day out while supporting three worthwhile causes.

Summer Music at the Pocket Park

Enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon with live music in Calne Pocket Park as professional singer Frankie performs from 2.30pm. The free event also features a pop-up café, making it the perfect excuse to relax with a drink, catch up with friends and enjoy some live entertainment in one of the town's green spaces. No booking is required – just turn up and enjoy the music.

Chippenham Carnival

Chippenham Carnival takes over the town on Saturday. The festivities begin at 2pm in Island Park with live music, food and drink before the colourful carnival procession sets off from Wiltshire College at around 5.30pm, winding its way through the town before finishing back at the park. Evening entertainment continues until 8.30pm, making it a great day out for all ages.

Sevington Victorian School Open Day

Step back in time at Sevington Victorian School's Summer Sunday Open Day this weekend. Open from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, visitors can explore the beautifully preserved Victorian schoolroom, schoolmistress's house and gardens, as well as enjoy homemade teas and children's activities. This month's special attraction is a lace-making demonstration, offering a fascinating glimpse into a traditional craft. Admission is £4 for adults, £2 for children or £10 for a family.
