A familiar face will be returning to the stage in Swindon this festive season as panto favourite David Ashley is set to star in this year’s production at the Wyvern Theatre.

Ashley will step into the role of Dame Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk, which runs from Saturday 5th December 2026 to Sunday 3rd January 2027, bringing a festive mix of big laughs, toe-tapping songs, colourful characters and plenty of audience participation.

Marking 40 years in showbusiness, he said returning to the Wyvern “feels like coming home”, having first appeared at the venue in 1986.

His career has included roles in major productions such as Les Misérables, Blood Brothers, Starlight Express and My Fair Lady, alongside countless pantomime appearances.

The show, produced by Imagine Theatre, follows Jack as he trades the family cow for a handful of magic beans and sets off on a giant-sized adventure to the land above the clouds. Expect dazzling sets, show-stopping musical numbers, laugh-out-loud comedy, an evil giant causing trouble, and all the classic panto magic along the way.

More casting announcements are expected in the coming months, with tickets already on sale via the theatre’s website, with organisers promising a ‘moo-vellous’ festive treat for audiences of all ages.
