Live theatre is returning to Calne this month, as The Last Baguette theatre company brings its energetic and eco-conscious production Bin Rat to town on Monday 28th July — and all performances are completely free.
The day kicks off with a fun piece of walking street theatre at North End at 11.30am, designed to grab attention and set the tone for the main event. The full outdoor performance of Bin Rat will take place in Calne’s Pocket Park at 2pm, promising laughter, puppetry, and a serious message about rubbish, recycling and how we treat our environment.
Bin Rat follows the adventures of an inquisitive rodent and the Squeaky Clean Street Cleaners as they sort through the scraps of everyday life to uncover what really happens to our waste. With The Last Baguette’s signature mix of physical comedy, puppetry, live music and disco dancing, the show is both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Described as a “rat-astic and realistic look into refuse and recycling,” the show asks an important question: Is tidiness really the answer? Families are invited to join the fun, get involved, and perhaps even look at their litter in a whole new light.
There aren’t many opportunities for live theatre in Calne, so organisers are encouraging as many people as possible to come along and enjoy the performance. No booking is required – just turn up and take part in what promises to be a joyful and meaningful afternoon of community entertainment.
