Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Chippenham.

The incident happened between midnight and 1am on Saturday 9th May outside the Black Horse pub on New Road.

A 19-year-old man sustained significant facial injuries, which police have described as serious.

A second 19-year-old man was arrested later that morning on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Officers are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have information, to come forward.
