WILTSHIRE Pollice have successfully secured a closure order for a property in Westcroft, Chippenham, as a critical safeguarding measure for a vulnerable individual.
The order was granted this morning at Swindon Magistrates Court, allowing only the resident, emergency services, and designated members from partner agencies to access the premises for a period of three months.
Any individual found violating the terms of the closure order will be committing a criminal offence and could face prosecution.
PC Jessica Swanborough from the Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing Team commented, “This order was vital to ensure the well-being of the resident, and I’m pleased it’s been granted by the court this morning. The order is in effect for three months and establishes strict restrictions on who is permitted entry into the property.”
To ensure compliance, local authorities will conduct regular patrols in the area. PC Swanborough said: “We will not hesitate to arrest and bring before the courts anyone found in breach of the order.”
This closure order is effective until March 2025, and penalties for violation can reach up to 51 weeks in prison, a fine, or both.
PC Swanborough also expressed gratitude to the community, saying, “I’d like to thank the members of the public who have reported their concerns to us regarding the property. Your information and intelligence are crucial in allowing us to take actions like we have today.”
Residents are encouraged to report any concerns in their neighbourhood by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.
