A 40-year-old man from Devizes has been handed a suspended prison sentence for stealing metal from a property in nearby Rowde.
Matthew Pike, of Anzio Road, Devizes, appeared before Salisbury Magistrates Court on 13th December, where he was sentenced for a non-dwelling burglary.
The incident occurred on 8th November when Wiltshire Police received a report from some home-owners, that cameras at their property had captured the theft in progress.
Officers swiftly responded to the call, leading to Pike's arrest shortly thereafter.
During police questioning, Pike admitted to stealing lead valued at approximately £600.
In light of the circumstances, the court decided to impose a three-month prison sentence, which has been suspended for a period of 12 months. In addition to the suspended sentence, Pike has been ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a surcharge of £154.
