A proactive vehicle stop in Chippenham on Friday night (14/02) has resulted in the arrest of two individuals suspected of being involved in the supply of class A drugs and drug driving.

Officers received a tip from the public regarding suspicious activity, which was believed to be related to drug dealing.

Following an investigation by the Local Policing Tasking Team (LPTT), a black Ford Fiesta was identified and stopped in London Road.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a substantial quantity of white powder, suspected to be a class A drug, as well as cash, weighing scales, and mobile phones.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, and passenger, a 20-year-old woman, were both taken into custody.

A roadside preliminary drugs wipe test was also administered to the driver, which tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.

Further searches of the suspects' home addresses yielded additional drugs and paraphernalia. The two individuals have been released on bail as the investigation continues.

PC Hughes from the county LPTT praised the public's role in the arrest, stating, "Reports and intelligence submissions from the public are crucial. We encourage everyone to report suspicious activity of any scale so we can continue to provide an effective response."
