A man has been charged in relation to a tragic multi-vehicle collision on the M4 last October that resulted in the deaths of two women.

 Firas Zeineddine, 45, of Bluebell Drive, Keynsham, faces two counts of death by dangerous driving following the incident that occurred on 20th October 20, 2023.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway between junction 17 for Chippenham and junction 18 for Bath at approximately 9.10am.

Four cars and an HGV were involved in the collision. At least seven fire appliances were in attendance including  crews from Wiltshire and Avon and Somerset together with ambulances, and a Great Western Air Ambulance rapid response unit.

The collision claimed the lives of Cheryl Woods, 61, and her daughter Sarha Smith, 40, both residents of Caerphilly. Two other people involved sustained minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at the scene. 

Zeineddine is set to appear in court at a later date to face the charges against him.
