POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious collision on the M4 last night (06/03) which left a man with critical injuries.

The crash happened on the eastbound carriageway near Leigh Delamere services at 7:31 pm, when an empty, unlit green Vauxhall Corsa was reported to be stationary in a live lane.

A Ford Transit collided with the rear of the car, causing injuries to three occupants.

Around half an hour later, at 8:03 pm, a man wearing dark clothing was struck by a Skoda on the entrance slip to the westbound services on the other side of the M4.

Police believe this man had been driving the Corsa and crossed the motorway on foot. The driver of the Corsa remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The road has reopened, and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the westbound collision, or have dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward.
