The two men who were wanted in connection with sexual offences were arrested yesterday in Devizes following a national appeal.

THAMES Valley Police issued an appeal to find the two missing men and later revealed they were wanted in connection with sexual offences which took place in Newbury between 21st April and 13th June - reported by the victim, a teenage boy.

Adam Hastings and Reece Upton, both aged 28, went missing around 3pm on Thursday 13th June and were seen in Chippenham and then Neston areas.

Yesterday evening police confirmed the men had been found in Devizes by Wiltshire Special Ops. Armed Response found one of the men and PD Ash found the second one hiding under a bush nearby.

The arrests end an extensive intelligence-led search involving dog and drone units, with the help of the public. This morning Wiltshire Police's Superintendent Doug Downing, County Hub Commander issued the following open letter :

Last night’s arrest of two people wanted in connection with sexual offences followed an extensive search operation in the Devizes area over a number of days.

In this instance, whilst we were are able to draw on a wide range of assets including our dog and drone units, Neighbourhood Policing teams and technical staff, there is no doubt that support from our communities played a vital and significant role in this case - leading directly to the detention of the two suspects.

The support, involvement and intelligence we have from the communities we serve plays such a vital role in helping us to Keep Wiltshire Safe.

On behalf of Wiltshire Police, I would like to thank all members of the public who supported in this instance, meaning we were able to act swiftly to apprehend and arrest these offenders.

I urge our communities to continue to provide community intelligence to us to help us to bring offenders to justice. Your support is truly invaluable.
