Wiltshire Council has issued a warning to residents following reports of fraudulent phone calls claiming to be from Wiltshire Council Housing.
This morning, several residents received calls from individuals alleging to be from Wiltshire Council saying that they were overcharged for their gas and electricity services. The callers proceeded to request sensitive financial details and other personal information.
In response to these alarming reports, Wiltshire Council Housing has emphasised that they do not conduct cold calls or request personal information over the phone.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and skeptical of unsolicited calls claiming to be from official organisations.
If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Wiltshire Council Housing and are unsure of its authenticity, the council encourages you to verify the call. You can do this by hanging up and calling back using the official housing telephone number at 0300 456 0117, selecting the appropriate department you wish to speak with.
