A 15-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an imitation firearm in Chippenham, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

On Tuesday morning (28/05) police responded to reports of youths in Monkton Hill area where one was waving what was thought to be a firearm. 

Armed Response Officers attended the area and extensive searches were carried out – as part of these searches, trains in and out of Chippenham Railway Station were held and a train at Bath Spa was searched.

Three youths matching the descriptions were fond in the underground car park in Chippenham town centre and an imitation firearm was seized.

Two other teenagers have since been released without charge.
