Three teenage boys aged between 14 and 15 years are on their way to Melksham custody suite this afternoon. following reports of one male being seen with what was thought to be a firearm, earlier today in Chippenham.

At about 10.50am this morning (28/05), police responded to reports of youths in the Monkton Hill area, one of them had been waving around what was thought to be a gun. 

Armed Response Officers attended the area and carried out extensive searches which included stopping and searching trains at Chippenham and Bath Spa.

Just before 2pm today, three males matching the descriptions were located in the underground car park in Chippenham town centre. Response officers arrested the teens and seized an imitation firearm. 

Sgt Jamie Ball said: “The arrest of these three individuals came about as a result of some excellent work by two of our PCSOs.

“Incidents of this nature have the ability to cause serious concern within a community – I’d like to reassure residents that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously and extensive searches and enquiries were carried out as soon as we received the initial report.”
