Three teenagers have been arrested after a suspected attempted break-in at Iceland in Chippenham during the early hours of this morning, 20th July.

Police were called to the supermarket in Market Place at around 12.45am after a member of the public reported seeing three people on the roof of the building.

Officers arrived within minutes and detained three boys nearby who matched the descriptions given by the caller.

During searches, police say they found a backpack containing items including pliers, tools and wiring, which they believe were intended to be used in a theft.

Two 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy, all from Chippenham, were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal. They remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police have thanked the member of the public who reported the suspicious activity and are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them, quoting crime reference 54260087210.
