A temporary 30mph speed restriction is being introduced on part of the A3102 in Calne, as concerns continue to be raised locally about the worsening condition of the road.
The stretch has been described by residents as a “rollercoaster”, with some saying the surface is becoming increasingly difficult to use.
Residents have also reported seeing motorists lose control on some sections of the road, adding to concerns about the condition of the route.
Wiltshire Council has issued an urgent notice confirming that a temporary 30mph restriction will come into force on 24th September 2026.
It will cover the A3102 from the roundabout at its junction with the A4 to the junction with Honeysuckle Close.
The council says the restriction will be clearly signed and is anticipated to be required until 14th October 2026.
The notice states that the restriction is being introduced to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out works.
However, information currently displayed on One.Network shows traffic management at the location with an end date in July 2027.
The two dates appear to relate to different aspects of the traffic management, with the council's official notice specifically covering the temporary 30mph restriction.
For now, motorists using the A3102 are being advised to take care and follow the temporary speed limit and any signs in place.
