Motorists in Calne are being warned of a temporary road closure in June to allow essential telecoms work to take place.

Wiltshire Council has issued a notice under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 confirming that Mill Street and part of Anchor Road will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday 24th June.

The closure will be in place between 9:30am and 3:30pm and is expected to last for one day, although timings could vary depending on weather conditions.

The affected sections are:

  • Mill Street, from its junction with Church Street to Anchor Road
  • Anchor Road, from its junction with Mill Street to The Glebe

The works are being carried out by Openreach Limited, who will be installing cabling for a new connection along with associated works.

A signed diversion route will be in place via Anchor Road (unaffected section), Brewers Lane, Shelburne Road, London Road, New Road, The Strand and Church Street.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, but motorists should expect delays during the works.

The order allows for a maximum duration of 18 months, although the council expects the work to be completed within the stated day.

For more information, residents can contact Openreach on 0800 023 2023.
