A series of roadworks will take place across Wiltshire over the coming weeks, with several closures expected to affect motorists in the Calne area.
Wiltshire Council has published a programme of surface dressing works across multiple routes between late March and early May, aimed at maintaining and extending the life of the county’s roads.
While the scheme covers a wide area, a number of closures are likely to have the biggest impact on drivers in and around Calne.
In Calne Without, two routes - including Calstone Wellington Road - will be closed from Monday 31st March to Wednesday 2nd April for maintenance works.
Nearby, further disruption is expected in Bremhill, where Spirthill (C135) will be shut from Friday 10th April to Sunday 12th April. A diversion of around 10 miles will be in place via routes including Swindon Road and Beversbrook Road.
There are also planned works in Cherhill, with changes to the extent of closures on Back Lane due to be confirmed.
Elsewhere, closures are scheduled across north Wiltshire, including in Yatton Keynell, Castle Combe, and Christian Malford.
The works are expected to last up to five days at each location, depending on weather conditions, with temporary traffic management and diversions in place while work is carried out.
Wiltshire Council says advance warning signs will be put in place ahead of each closure, and access will be maintained where possible.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during the programme.
Full details of the works, including exact closure times, diversion routes and any changes to the schedule, can be found via Wiltshire Council’s traffic management system at One.Network. Motorists are advised to check for updates before travelling, as dates may change depending on weather conditions.
