A section of Church Road in Derry Hill and Studley is set to close for more than a month while highway improvement works are carried out.

Wiltshire Council has announced the temporary closure of the road from its junction with the A4 to outside the property known as School House from Monday 18th May until Friday 19th June.

The closure is needed to allow traffic island relocation works and associated highway improvements to take place.

An official diversion route will operate via the A342 and A4, with the route clearly signposted throughout the works.

Wiltshire Council said access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible, although delays are expected because of the nature of the project.

The closure will also affect several Faresaver bus services.

Faresaver has confirmed that routes 33, X33 and X10 will be unable to serve Church Road in Derry Hill village during the works.

Temporary arrangements will include:

  • Services 33 and X10 using Studley Cross Roads stops for pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • The X33 service picking up passengers at the Lansdowne Arms.
  • Passengers travelling towards Chippenham on the X33 using the stop opposite the pub near the grassed area.

The temporary traffic regulation order allows the closure to remain in place for up to 18 months if necessary, although the current works are expected to finish by 19th June.
